About this image:
Fossilized remains of Ernanodon are found in late Paleocene formations in China. Its curious form has caused debate as to its place in the animal kingdom, with some paleontologists now classifying it as a possum-like placental mammal. Its heavily muscled build and stout claws certainly suggest that it was a capable digger.
